Google + Posts in Adwords

I have been a long time advocate for all things Google+. The good, the bad and everything in between. I firmly believe that businesses and brands still don’t see the value of the social construct component of Google+.

If you look on the web, on tv commercials, and traditional mediums you rarely see the G+ Logo at the end of the spot. Why?

Brands and Businesses have had decided which basket(s) to lay their eggs ( pun intended for the Easter weekend) and they have been told OR have decided that Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest are the better baskets when compared to Google+.

Well this week I think a number of brands and businesses who have a heavy hand in their Google Adwords strategy may have some regrets regarding ignoring Google+. On April 16th Google’s Adwords Blog announced that Google +Post ads are now available to all advertisers.  Previously they were only available to a limited number of partner advertisers as Google was testing the services out.

Why is it important that brands and small businesses spend some time and resources building their presence on Google+ you ask?

If you want to take advantage of the new +Posts in adwords, your brand/business page must have a minimum of 1000 circlers or followers.  On top of that the page must also post content that is relevant to the audience and you have opted in to shared endorsements for Google+ Pages.

Here is a great post from Martin Shervington from with full details on how to set up and take advantage of the the new +Post feature in adwords and Google+. Check it out for complete details. is a tremendous resource for all brands and small businesses to learn how to get the most out of the social spine of all of Google’s service with up to date information about updates and releases.

I would also, like to mention that Martin is a personal friend of mine that I known since some of the earliest days hanging out on Google+. That said, it shouldn’t sway you from checking out PlusyourBusiness! 😉

New England Winter Fun

So the winter in New England and most of the north east for that matter, has been pretty miserable. Blistering cold, tons of snow, storms arriving a drive time. It truly seems like the winter that will never end.

New England Winter Fun

The only upside to all this snow is that the snowboarding has been great. I have been a snowboarder since I was 14. When I started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu three years ago, snowboarding kind of took a back seat. I only have so much spare time and I had to pick where to to spend it, and for me it was at the academy training.

2 years ago my son picked up snowboarding. As a result I started riding again. Embracing some part of winter is a great way to make the cold months not seem so miserable. We go riding at least once a week. It is great exercise and father/son bonding time. I have really earned some “cool ” points from my son by being able to do some small tricks in the mini park.

Aside from snowboarding, the whole family has enjoyed sledding and tubing at various times this winter. I tubed for my first time at Loon mountain in late January. It was a blast! I recorded my run through Google Glass! Here is the video!
