Ramping up for Movember

So it’s that time of year again. Yep. Movember is knocking on our door. I am ramping up for Movember as I type this.

Keep on trucking

Last year was my first year participating and our team with a generous contribution from Colonial Volkswagen of Westborough raised nearly $2400. This year I am heading up a team. Our team name is G+ and Beyond Mobros.

So far we have 9 team members, most of which are great people I have met over the last year on Google Plus,

I am hopeful to fill out the team with about 15-20 mobros by the time November 1st hits.

For those of you what are not familiar with the Movember movement, each November men around the world who choose to participate shave clean on November 1st and grow a moustache throughout the 30 days of Movember. They do it to raise awareness for mens health issues, particularly prostate and testicular cancer. Through Movember.com you can create a “mobro Mo Space Page ” page and start or join a team .  Through this page statuses can updated by participants and donations can be made.

Here is my Mo Space page for this years Movember http://us.movember.com/mospace/.

Growing a moustache is a great way to raise awareness. Last year, I had people ask, ” Dan, what’s with the moustache? ” It was a conversation started and I would always tell them that I was raising money and awareness for Prostate Cancer.

I look forward to a great movember with my team mates on G+ and Beyond Mobros and check back for updates.

Right now I am torn between going with the Ron Burgundy or the Ron Swanson.

What do you think?

Movember has come to an End

This morning, I shaved off my MOustache. It was bittersweet. I did find it itchy and I was constantly twisting at it and rubbing it was not a very good look in the office or at the dinner table or behind the wheel. But now that Movember has come to end, I am proud to say that I personally generated $500 in donations and team #swag raised $1795.

Donations are open through December 5th and I am proud to say that Colonial Volkswagen of Westborough will be matching my donation dollar for dollar to bring the total raised as of today to $2,295,

All in all Movember was a great experience. I hope that next year that through my efforts this year I will be able to get more people to join in. Prostate cancer is a serious issue and helping raise money for general awareness and research is an awesome thing to do.

I would like to thank everyone who donated. I had donations from Co-workers, friends, team mates, G+ people, Facebook people, Vendors that Colonial does business with, and a bunch of anonymous donations to reach my goal. To each and everyone of you that liked, +1’d, commented, shared my post I want to say THANK YOU! You guys rock. To both friends of old and friends of new I hope that some of you will join me next year as I have already marked my calendar for next Movember.

Here is an album of my Movember Recap.
