New Month with New Opportunities

April is here. April Fools’ day is behind us, March is behind us. April. Baseball, Spring, Snow melting…. a new month with new opportunities.

The Chase
Well, if it were easy kid, everybody would do it. -James Coughlin

Are you going to make the most of them?

With each new month there is the opportunity to start off on the right foot. So many times we are so busy wrapping up deliveries and business from the previous month that we get a soft start out of the gate.

While insuring that business from last month is in order, delivered and clients are satisfied, you must look forward and not back. Setting goals is something I wrote about in the past.  Everyone in business whether it is for yourself or your employer must have goals.

Goals are about looking forward. Making each minute, each email, each phone call count. I went and saw Bad Religion at the House of Blues Boston last week, it was awesome! It also rekindled my love for the band. Greg Graffin from Bad Religion is an epic lyric songwriter. When I first started to listening to Bad Religion, I literally would sit with a dictionary and thesaurus just to better understand what he was saying.  One lyric from Do What You Want that I tweeted late last week really resonated with me, ” Idleness and dissipation breed apathy. ” If you need to, grab a dictionary, have a look and think about it.

Idleness and dissipation breed apathy… Think about it. Set goals, find ways to make the most of your time. Not just in career but in life.

In business you can start this new month by sitting on your hands waiting for the ” new ” business or opportunities to come your way or…. you can get up and get out there and find the business. Proactive instead of reactive. Prospect. Be positive. Smile. Build relationships. Be a brand ambassador, whether the brand is you or the company you work for!
